Birthday Tower Basket - Brownies!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007 Food and Candy Gifts

A good friend of mine has a birthday this week, and I’m sure he’s going to be pleased when this Birthday Tower
shows up on his doorstep. It’s actually one of those scenarios where I purchased what I’d want for myself, but in this case, I think it will work. Who doesn’t love jumbo brownies, brownie cookies, and bite-sized brownies, all in a fun and festive tower.

Between the incredibly bright packaging and the sheer volume of chocolate, I’m sure all the women in his office will see it and stop by his office. For that, he owes me.

Starbucks Coffee Gift Set

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

I’m not much of a Starbucks fan, but the fact that they’re on pretty much every other street corner in the city of Chicago would seem to indicate that someone out there is. If you happen to know that person, this Starbuck Gift Box is a great gift idea.

At $49.95, it includes 4 popular coffees - Sulawesi, Sumatra, Komodo Dragon Blend, and Caffee Verona.

Back to Nature Fruit Basket

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

The fruit basket is such a classic that a lot of people overlook it when they’re considering a gift. While it’s probably not the best gift for your chocoholic aunt, this Back to Nature fruit gift basket is a wonderful gift for any health-conscious loved one.

Unlike a lot of baskets that make promises about specific fruits, this one uses whatever is freshest at the time. Package prices range from $49-69.

6 Bottle Wine Gift Set

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

For many people, the idea of giving wine as a gift is pretty intimidating. This 6 Bottle Gift Set hopes to change that. Wine Messenger has assembled a number of different collections of varying degrees of quality, and all you have to do to gift it is choose how much you like the recipient. They start with the “Clever Consumer” collection for $73, but if you need to make an impression, you can opt for the most expensive, option, “The Collector”, for $145.

While it’s probably not what we’d recommend for the most high-brow of scenarios (the “best” wines will cost quite a bit more than 6/$145), it’s a great gift for us normal folks.

Basket of Smiles - COOKIES!

Sunday, August 5th, 2007 Food and Candy Gifts

As you have probably noticed, I have a bit of a sweet tooth. Cookies, candy, cupcakes, brownies, cheesecakes…doesn’t matter, it’s all good. Right now, I’m interested in this A Basket of Smiles Gift Basket. I don’t know if it’s as good as it looks, but if it’s even close, those cookies must be delicious.

As cheesy as it may seem, this is a great gift to make someone smile. There is just no way to fight off the impulse to grin when 1 or 2 DOZEN bright yellow, smiling cookies show up at your door. Whether you’re dealing with a breakup, a bad mood, or you just want to get someone’s attention, this basket could be just the thing to do it.

Gourmet Mac and Cheese

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

If you don’t love Mac & Cheese, you’re probably not human. That’s a fact. That’s why I think this Gourmet Mac and Cheese gift is such a great idea. It’s great as an appetizer for parties, or as an apartment-warming gift for a college student or new grad, or as a comfort food fod someone that’s sick…I could go on all day.

My only complaint is that it’s not a HUGE quantity. If you wanted to cater your daughter’s slumber party, you’re probably going to need at least 2-3 of the $29.90 3-packs. Flavors included are: Canandian Farmhouse Cheddar, 4-Cheese and Carmelized Onion, Truffle, Bacon and Brie. Yummy!
