Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I realize that I would probably be a better friend if I would buy my friends exercise bikes instead of things like this Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker.  Seriously, though, I figure that if I buy the ice cream maker, the recipient will feel obligated to make me some ice cream with it at some point.  While some might just buy it for themselves, I think things through.  I cook for one, and this ice cream maker looks like a tremendous pain if you’re making ice cream for just one person.  If I buy it for a friend with kids, though, she can make enough to feed 6 - one of which had better be me :)

Powdered Sugar Spoon - Who Knew This Existed?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 Food and Candy Gifts

Sometimes, it seems as though I’m the last one to know. That was definitely the case with this Powdered Sugar Spoon. When I first saw it in a Miles Kimball catalog (Seriously, those old people catalogs are hoarding all the cheap and clever household products), I thought it was madness. The last thing I need is another kitchen item that does ONE THING. Then I thought about it.

When I make brownies (or anything else that needs a dusting of powdered sugar or cocoa), I usually get out a huge sifter. Then it proceeds to take up room in the sink until the dishes are done. Rather than taking up all that space, the powdered sugar spoon is small enough to fit in a drawer or silverware compartment in the dishwasher. For $3.99, I’d say it earns its keep.
