19-Piece Godiva Flower Ballotin Chocolates
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008Given the choice between buying someone a pocket watch and buying them a box of chocolates, I’m nearly always going to choose the chocolates. In fact, sometimes I’ll just send chocolates out of the blue. Since they’re not something that most people buy for themselves, they make people feel particularly special (assuming you’re not just sending them as a random business associate).
If you’re not the kind of person who talks about feelings, a random box of chocolates can be an excellent way to send the message that’s in your head without the awkward conversation - not that your recipient wouldn’t like hearing your thoughts, too, but at least with chocolate, they can eat them.
This 19-Piece Godiva Flower Ballotin set is perfect for a “just because” gift, a summer birthday, or a “thanks for an amazing first date, let’s do it again” gift. And yes, ladies, you can send one to a guy, too - just don’t send the sappy love poetry or the sheet of paper where you’ve doodled your name with his last name. Stick to the chocolates.
Godiva Flower Ballotin, 19-Piece
Abloom with springtime bliss, this golden box of chocolate is just another reason to love the season. Filled with an exciting assortment of Godiva’s rich, decadent chocolate, it’s sealed with an adorable blossom-topped bow.
Chocolate-Covered Bing Cherries
Saturday, June 21st, 2008I’ve never understood why cherries don’t get more attention. They’re attractive, delicious, and versatile fruits. They’re great on their own, with chocolate, in pies, in tarts, as a garnish…So why is it that people are always eating apples and bananas, but almost no one runs around with a Ziploc full of cherries?
Still, perhaps the relative rarity makes cherries an even greater indulgence. I know I’d certainly be happy to receive this set of Chocolate Covered Bing Cherries. The next time you’re thinking about getting someone a new tie or some golf equipment, just don’t. Get something delicious instead.

Chocolate Covered Bing Cherries
Price: $34.95
A true luxury: a whole pound of our famous cherries. Enjoy them right out of their Pan Dan woven reed gift box.
Prosecco & Chocolate Gift Set: Nothing Better Than Wine & Chocolate
Monday, June 9th, 2008If you want to make a good impression on someone, there’s no need to buy them Roger Dubuis gifts (although they are nice). This Prosecco & Pure Chocolate gift set is not only classy, but delicious. It comes with a regular milk chocolate bar and Rocky Road chocolate mini-slab, along with two small bottles of bubbly Prosecco sparkling wine. What could be nicer for a quiet evening with someone you love - or just a decadent afternoon alone?
Bride & Groom Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Wedding Favors
Thursday, May 8th, 2008If you’re the kind of person who oohs and ahhs over things that are made to look like other things, you’ll love these Bride & Groom Chocolate Dipped Strawberries. If you own a hotel, these would make a great way to greet newlyweds. Even cheap hotels can be dressed up with a simple gesture like that. If you’re planning a wedding reception, they’d make great wedding favors. And of course, if you’re a guy planning to propose, these chocolate-covered strawberries could be a cute way to help get the message across…
Chocolate Ecstasy Cake - For a Birthday, Anniversary, Mother’s Day, Tuesday…
Friday, April 25th, 2008When it comes to gifts, I have a personal motto: “Always err on the side of delicious.” Given the choice between a fantastic edible gift and something you can’t eat, I’m almost always going to get the gift you can eat. People always stare at delicious food in bakeries and stores, but it’s not often that they treat themselves to a $20+ food that serves no practical purpose (though I’d argue for mood enhancement).
This Chocolate Ecstasy Cake is just one more example of an incredible gift cake that most people would never otherwise taste. It weighs in at **5 POUNDS** of fudge-y, chocolate-y goodness. The entire surface of the cake is covered in fudge frosting, chocolate wafers, some kind of extra icing, and crushed chocolate or cookies (or chocolate cookies) all over the sides. By the time you’re done, you’ll be so full and uncomfortable that you’ll need a sleep wedge to get a peaceful rest.
Sugar-Free Hand-Dipped Chocolate Strawberries
Monday, March 17th, 2008Diabetics and other sugar-restricted groups have a pretty tough lot in life. Delicious food is everywhere, and eating it goes hand in hand with most celebrations and holidays. Fortunately, someone over at ProFlowers had diabetics in mind with their Sugar Free Hand-Dipped Strawberries.
Each sugar-free strawberry is dipped in chocolate and then coated in nuts, coconut, or more delicious chocolate. If someone in your life has a sugar-restricted diet, this is definitely the perfect gift. Even on sale, the price is a little high (currently $45, regularly $75), but this is a present that tells the recipient that you went the extra mile to get something especially appropriate.
Also, as a note for some of you clueless guys out there - If you occasionally see your favorite lady eating sugar-free foods or dieting, that doesn’t mean you should buy these strawberries. If she CAN eat regular chocolate, this gift may be interpreted as a request to shed a few pounds. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
This picture definitely isn’t large enough to convey the full yumminess of these strawberries. Don’t grab your Panoptx glasses, just click over to their site and view it in a larger size.
Ghirardelli Chocolate Variety Gift Set
Sunday, March 9th, 2008If you’re looking for a good corporate gift alternative to things like engraved paperweights and Bose headphones, consider something like this Ghirardelli Chocolate Delight. Ghirardelli is widely loved, plus this particular package offers a wide variety of flavors. At $40, it’s a very affordable way to make a good impression.
All Natural Chocolate Mint Truffles With No Preservatives
Wednesday, December 26th, 2007Chocolate Mint Truffles are pretty common in chocolate stores, but it’s rare that you’ll find truffles that aren’t made in a factory and loaded with preservatives. I’ve looked for them in the past, but it seems like I’m stuck making my own if I want them to be fresh and pure. Mrs. Cavanaugh’s can give you exactly that, though, and it doesn’t even cost what I would have expected.
For $20.99, you can get a 1 pound box of All Natural Chocolate Mint Truffles. They say that they’re made with a premium natural peppermint oil, so you know they’re going to be good. I’ve never gone wrong making chocolates with high quality peppermint oil. Also, they’re available in Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and Assorted Chocolates.
Chocolate Chip Pancake & Waffle Mix
Sunday, December 23rd, 2007After a long day of shopping on Friday, I was pretty much convinced that there is no way to find a reasonable gift for less than $10. You might be able to buy something for that price, I thought, but there’s no way that it would be a gift that you wouldn’t be embarrassed by. Even the average paperback book costs $10-15. I was pretty sure that I was going to spend roughly the amount of a couple caribbean cruises just to buy gifts for the last few people on my list this year.
I’m happy to say, though, that I was wrong. This Chocolate Chip Pancake & Waffle Mix would make a outstanding gift for only $7.50. The packaging is cute, and for their insanely low price, you get 17 ounces of mix that includes Guittard Chocolate Chips. If you’re not familiar with Guittard Chocolate, let me assure you that you should be. Even the international adventurer and NY Times best-selling author Tim Ferriss agrees that they are world-class chocolates (although they’re too expensive to make his <$5 list).
Chocolate Dipped Wine
Thursday, October 18th, 2007I honestly can’t decide if this Chocolate-Dipped Wine is cool or not. On one hand, it’s very neat - definitely unique and visually appealing. On the other hand, I have to wonder if there’s some kind of plastic under the chocolate to keep it from leaving residue on the bottle and discoloring the bottle’s label.
If you’re curious and want to try it, know that they have several different wine selections ranging from White Zin to a bottle of Dom ($35-$195 in price). Let me know how it turns out.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies
Monday, September 10th, 2007 Food and Candy GiftsThere are few things in life as delicious as Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies. They’re fun to eat, fun to give, and they’re on sale. What more could you want? If you’re looking for the perfect corporate gift for someone with a sweet tooth, or the perfect gift for anyone who just likes cookies, definitely check these out. I have to admit, I’d like some for myself.

Custom Photo Box Chocolate Truffles
Monday, July 16th, 2007 Food and Candy GiftsWhen you’re giving someone the gift of food you didn’t make, it’s hard to be unique. It’s not hard to get good, high quality chocolate, but if you do too much to make it unusual, it can end up losing the original appeal. That’s why personalized photo boxes are so cool.. You can offer an original, thoughtful gift (or you can use your business image/logo) while still sending excellent, delicious chocolates.
Their boxes start out at $17.99, and you can upload the image online so it’s quick and easy.
