Apple Cider Pork Loin Dinner
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008I’m a big fan of sending meals to people who are having a tough time or a major event in their lives, so I spend a lot of time browsing the Home Delivery website. I recently got the chance to try out their Pork Loin in a Reduced Apple Cider Sauce, and it was every bit as delicious as you might expect.
At $10.95, it’s still cheaper than a lot of restaurant meals, except you can eat this kicked back in your home theater chairs.

The Summer Entertaining Gift Basket: Spice Rubs, Gourmet Salsa, & More
Friday, May 23rd, 2008There are some food gifts that are about as fun as a natural acne treatment. Sure, they’re functional, but no one’s going to care. Things like crackers and mustard feel that way sometimes. This Summer Entertaining Gift Basket is quite the opposite. Instead of boring recipients with the usual, uninspired items, this includes chili mix, BBQ spice rubs, gourmet salsa, raspberry lemongrass tea, mango peach tea, and three different kinds of bean dips (Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Mexican). That’s a party (or more than one party) in a basket! Just add alcohol.
The Most Expensive Picnic Gift Set Ever
Monday, March 31st, 2008Okay, so maybe this isn’t THE most expensive picnic ever, but it’s certainly not cheap. At $265, “The Picnic” set is perfectly stocked for a slightly snooty afternoon in the park.
So what do you get with your almost $300 picnic basket? Quite a lot, actually. It comes with a picnic basket with a green gingham liner, forks, knives, plates, plastic wine glasses, containers, a cheese knife, cheese board, a disposable camera, and napkins. As for the edibles, you get:
Santa Barbara Garlic Stuffed Olives
La Tempesta Chocolate Macadamia Biscotti
Tony Packo’s Pickles and Peppers
1 Bottle of Forest Glen Chardonnay
French Brie Cheese
Havarti with Dill
Carr’s Assorted Biscuits
Maille Mustard
5 Lindt Chocolates
Lindt Chocolate Bar
Of course, I think this gift set would be best enjoyed on patio furniture instead of the cold, hard, ant-ridden ground.
Spanish Paella & Rioja Wine Gift Set
Monday, March 31st, 2008I’ve talked about the benefits of wine clubs before, but you don’t necessarily have to commit to an expensive series of shipments to get a good gift for a friend or business associate. This Spanish Paella & Rioja Wine Gift Set makes an astounding and exotic gift set for a very reasonable $70.
Given the fact that saffron alone can be a little pricey and hard to find, it’s actually a very nice gift. It’s also a great, self-interested gift if you happen to live with the intended recipient.
Omaha Steaks Lobster & Filet Dinner
Thursday, March 20th, 2008Given the choice between a Patek Nautilus watch and a Lobster & Filet dinner for two, I’d definitely choose the meal. While either would make a great business gift, it’s tough to look at the picture below without getting very, very hungry. Surprisingly, the meal goes for just $69 over at Omaha Steaks (for now, anyway). Contents include:
2 (6 oz.) Lobster Tails
Original Lobster Gram
Thursday, December 6th, 2007I’m a huge fan of lobster, and I can’t imagine how thrilled I would be if The Original Lobster Gram showed up on my doorstep. Obviously, I would know that whoever sent it (a) really liked me and (b) had impeccable taste. I would be thrilled that the person had taken the liberty of freeing me from the reigns of practicality, if only for one meal. Because like most of us, I never actually think to BUY my own lobster when I’m at the grocery store, which would make a lobster delivery that much more special.
Lobster Gram meals range from $61.95 to nearly $200, and all of their choices come with bibs, utensils, and a cooking manual so you don’t mess up your lobster
Corporate Elite Basket
Sunday, November 4th, 2007Sometimes, you need to make an amazing impression. That’s exactly what this Corporate Elite wine gift basket does. From the rich-looking bamboo trunk to the velvet wine sack, this one screams first-class. I’d use this for getting in someone’s good graces, or possibly to impress someone’s parents.
It’s also a pleasant departure from the classic strawberries and champagne on the bed in the hotel room. Not that there’s ANYTHING wrong with the strawberries and champagne. In fact, maybe you should just get both.
